The final insallment of my Moscow photoessay series focuses on a generation that have witnessed some of the pivotal changes in Moscow in the 20th and 21st centuries. This project was not only a re-discovery of my home city, but also a “re-discovery” of my grandparents. A city can change in the space of a year or two, but relationships even more so. As a granddaughter this project meant understanding the personalities and individual lives of my grandparents. As a photographer, I aimed to show a different point of view of the Moscovite crowd. That of those closest to me. The majority of these photographs were taken in the suburbian Moscow countryside amoung the berries, vegetables and trees which are also a part of our family.
